Edit Activity Comments

General Description

The CRM supports adding comments to activities after they hvae been created. These comments can store specific notes about the activity which will not be included in any reporting or documentation but remain visible to the user when accessing the Activity. The comment information, once saved, cannot be modified.

This change would add an edit feature to the Activity Comment.

Current Functionality

The Magaya CRM provides multiple areas for users to comment on records throughout the system, including in Activities themselves. Here many comments may be added and specific information will be tracked, including:

  • Creator

  • Comment Text

  • Activity Modification date and time

  • Comment creation date and time

These comments are internal notes specific to individual activities and are located within the Activity screen:

The comments, while visible, cannot be modified once they have been saved. For more information on Activities in the Magaya CRM, please visit Magaya CRM: Create Activities in the Magaya Knowledge Base.

Future Functionality

Users will be able to click on an existing comment within an activity and a box will popup with the content of the comment editable. Modifying the comment text will update the comment in the CRM, the stamped date on the comment and the Last Modified information within the Activity, including:

  • User

  • Date

  • Time

This edit screen should be displayed in an overlay on top of the Activity screen silimar to how the current CRM Activity's note creation screen is designed:

With a label reading "Edit Comment" instead of "Create New Comment". Additionally, a delete button will be added to the bottom left-hand corner so that the entered comment can be modified or fully deleted by the user.

Proposed security enhancements around this change:

  1. Following existing role heierarchy, users may:

    1. Delete their own comments

    2. Delete the comments of those people they manage

  2. Users may not:

    1. Delete comments of users with higher security levels then them

    2. Delete comments of users who are managed by others.
